Hourly Rate Calculator Australia

For casuals, part-timers and contractors: what your hourly rate is really worth as a salary — and what you keep after tax.

Your rate

Your rate as a salary, per year

Worked example: $38 an hour, 38 hours a week

That's $75,088 a year gross. Tax of $13,046.40 and Medicare of $1,501.76 leave $60,539.84 — $1,164.23 a week, an effective take-home rate of $30.64 an hour. Compare salaried offers against that effective rate, not the headline $38.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn an hourly rate into a salary?

Rate × hours per week × 52. $38 an hour at 38 hours is $75,088 a year before tax — $60,539.84 after tax and Medicare, or an effective $30.64 per hour actually kept.

Does this include the casual loading?

Your entered rate is whatever you're actually paid — if it already includes the typical 25% casual loading, the conversion stands. Just don't add super on top: casuals still get 12% SG from their employer on ordinary hours.

What about overtime and penalty rates?

They change your annual total week to week. Enter your average weekly hours at your average effective rate for a fair estimate, or use the pay calculator with your actual annual gross.
