How we calculate (AU)

Every parameter below was verified against the ATO on 1 November 2026. Where the ATO hasn't published a 2026–27 figure yet, we say so and leave it out rather than borrow last year's.

Parameters in use — financial year 2026–27

Deliberately not calculated yet

Medicare levy reductions: the ATO has not published 2026–27 low-income thresholds, so we apply the standard 2% and flag it on every page. Redundancy payments: the 2026–27 tax-free base and per-year amounts are not yet confirmed on ATO pages, so there is no redundancy calculator until they are — we'd rather have no page than a wrong one. Long service leave: state-by-state rules are being verified against Fair Work and state government sources before those pages open.

Method

Annual figures use the ATO resident scale with LITO applied, Medicare at 2% of taxable income, and HELP on repayment income approximated as taxable income plus salary-sacrificed super. Super guarantee is shown on top of pay (capped at the maximum base) and is never deducted from take-home unless you salary sacrifice. Per-period figures divide the annual result evenly; employer withholding tables can differ by small amounts.

Update log — 1 November 2026: all 2026–27 parameters verified against ato.gov.au, including three figures widely copied wrong elsewhere: the concessional cap is $32,500 (not $30,000), the HELP threshold is $69,528 with 15%/17% marginal rates (not $67,000 flat), and the super maximum base is now annual ($270,830), not quarterly.
